Google headquarters to host a private K-Pop concert in California on May 21st

Submitted: May 03 2012 06:49 AM by Miranda

SM Entertainment artists including Girls' Generation, TVXQ, Super Junior, will join KARA, SISTAR, MBLAQ, BEAST, Wonder Girls and other top K-POP stars to perform at Google's office in San Francisco on May 21st, at 6PM (local time). The performances will be broadcast via MBC and Google's Youtube channel.

This is the first time an overseas performance will be broadcast not just through a local station, but also through a global portal site. It is also the first time that K-Pop performances at Google will be broadcasted through the internet. From this it is clear that K-Pop has become a global phenomenon.

A local representative from the event commented, "When news that Korean singers will be performing at Google's head office broke, even the concert organisers got excited. Fans who attend Korean singers' concerts are usually American-Koreans, but this time the Google performance will be targeted at local American pop fans. This proves the global appeal of Korean singers."

He added, "This will greatly increase the demand for concerts in America." The event will be invite only for those that are Google employees.

Meanwhile, SM Entertainment artists will hold the SM Town Live concert at California's Honda Center on May 20th, one day before their Google performance, making the two days a K-pop festival of sorts.

The headquarters are actually in Mountain View, but I guess they didn't use google maps.

it's also the first time an event that big is being held in the more northern part of california and not LA. Of course it'll only be invite only for now. Damn Google, at least they'll show in on their Youtube.

True or not, it's a bit misleading when the title claims it's going to be a private party when nowhere in the article itself says so.

Putting aside the fact that this is a PRIVATE K-Pop Concert the fact that Google is going to put the performances on their youtube channel is going to give k-pop SO MUCH EXPOSURE. xD

I'm very thankful that Google will have this on youtube live. I'll get to see SNSD live twice in the same week!
