New solo artist Crazyno takes performing to a different level

Submitted: Oct 12 2012 01:50 AM by Kaye

After just recently having released his first single "The Lunatic" under the moniker "Crazyno," Australian-born and raised 24-year-old Kim Jino has been able to garner attention due to his out-of-the-ordinary debut song and concept.

Crazyno released his first single just last week. Looking at his album cover shows that he isn't just a rookie; he transforms into the Joker as well as Marilyn Monroe among others. The credits state that his songs were written, produced, arranged and composed by the performer himself. Even parts of the choreography were of his invention. He commented, “More than having a cool and well choreographed dance, I am just up on the stage moving around excitedly, having a good time, following the camera and doing other sorts of freestyle movements that make it fun, I think. I am breaking the mold of all the singers that came before me.”

Though his debut song and music video show his confident and humorous side, when met in person, he seems to have a calm appearance. “When I’m in an unfamiliar place or nervous, I most often have a really normal appearance," the rookie soloist explained. "When I’m with people my own age or on stage is when my comical side comes out."

Originally a prospective soccer player, his father hoped for him to become a doctor instead and due to the pressure put on him, he quit playing. Crazyno went on to enter university as a computer science major, but switched to Psychology very fast. Planning on going to medical school to become a doctor, his parents took him to Korea where he met with a music producer by chance. That person managed to change the course of his life as he was infected with the music bug. While his parents were under the impression that he was living the normal dorm life back at university, Crazyno made his way to Korea by himself, opting to learn about music instead. During this time, he learned music and covered a myriad of skills ranging from lyricism, composing, arranging music and production. In the meantime he met with with Jung Seokkwon, Park Myungsoo’s manager. His skills cemented the plans his company made for him to debut him as a solo artist instead of adding him to a group, and to debut with songs he wrote himself.

Before debuting as a solo artist, Crazyno worked with various music executives who said his style was close to "crazy" and if he wanted to continue in music, they advised him to go with a stagename. Combining "crazy" and his real name "Jino/Zyno" together, Crazyno was born.

People have described his music and video as have a feeling close to Korean star Psy. Crazyno added, “On a talk show once, Psy received a question, ‘How old of a woman would you be willing to date?’ and replied, ‘If you’re at least a year younger than my mother, aren’t we all the same age?’ The idea was so funny to me that I found and watched a lot more programs that he was on and became his fan.” He added, "Psy is explosive. I want to be like that. I want to go as far as possible with my music.”

What do you think of his debut track and music video?
