Main cast for "IRIS 2" revealed
Taewon Entertainment, the production company behind the hit drama "IRIS" and its impending sequel "IRIS 2," has finally announced the official cast for "IRIS 2."
On September 19th, Taewon Entertainment issued an official statement, which said, "Actors and actresses Jang Hyuk, Lee Dahae, Oh Yeonseo, and Im Soohyang will be joining the cast of 'IRIS 2.' Furthermore, Kim Youngchul and Kim Seungwoo, who were part of the original 'IRIS,' will also partake in 'IRIS 2,' and Kim Minjong from 'Athena' will also participate in 'IRIS 2.' After a few more minor details are settled, this entire cast will set out to create another epic 'IRIS.'"
Bits of information regarding the characters in "IRIS 2" were also revealed. Jang Hyuk, who will be playing the lead male character, will take on the role of the NSS TF-A group leader who is trying to uncover the secrets of the organization IRIS and former NSS leader Baeksan. Jang Hyuk's character will also undergo a huge transformation in the drama, as a string of events turn Jang Hyuk's character from a warm-hearted person to a cold, apathetic character.
As for actress Lee Dahae, she will be playing the role of a shooter, who is also part of the NSS TF-A. Although she is sometimes clumsy, she becomes an intelligent and indispensable part of the team when they go out on missions. "IRIS 2" will mark the first time that Lee Dahae will try her hand at physical combat.
Actress Oh Yeonsoo will be playing the role of NSS's vice president. Her character is also a former worker of the US's Pentagon. She will be trying to make NSS an undercover organization in the drama and will engage in many talks with the Korean president, making her an important figure in the drama.
Im Soohyang, who has achieved recognition for her performance in the recent drama "I Do, I Do," will be playing the role of IRIS's professional killer.
Other actors and actresses who are still in the midst of deciding whether or not to take part in the drama include Daniel Henney, KARA's Jiyoung, BEAST's Doojoon, and MBLAQ's Lee Joon.
"IRIS 2" is scheduled to begin filming in October and will air in the first half of 2013.
