Mnet America to celebrate K-pop's breakthrough on 1st Annual Pre-Grammy party
Mnet America has announced its plans for the first ever annual Pre-Grammy Party to be held early February.
Attending the night's festivities will be some of the hottest up and coming Asian American stars as well as Grammy winning and nominated artists and celebrities. Performances of a K-pop themed Cirque and dance exhibition produced by choreographer Aimee Lee Lucas will go hand in hand with live performances of new acts such as "The Voice" finalists Connie Lim and Sonia Rao, and K-pop solo artist Ailee. Including artist and producer Tony Maserati, the Mnet America Pre-Grammy party will put attention to the 55th annual Grammy nominees and past winners. Celebrity presenters of the event will be Carrie Ann Inaba ("Dancing With the Stars") and Suzanne Whang (“Las Vegas,” “House Hunters”).
Mnet America will be covering the event extensively for its own digital portal, MCube, and TV broadcast. Danny Im and Kevin Shea, hosts of Mnet America's "Danny From L.A" are also confirmed to be in attendance. Additional information is set to be revealed later on.
To honor past year's brightest talents, Mnet America has created the Mnet America Asian Pop Awards. The new awards were handed out in categories such as "Rising Star," "Digital Trend Setter," and "Pop Brand of the Year," with rookie solo artist Ailee, Asian American YouTube star David Choi, and Toyota, receiving them respectively.
"2012 was an incredible year for Asian and Asian American pop culture and entertainment, driven by the K-pop explosion breaking into the U.S. mainstream in a big way, and going beyond music and into TV, movies, food, fashion, sports, digital media and gaming,” says Ted Kim, CEO and president of Mnet America. "From 'Gangnam Style' to 'Linsanity,' the hottest stories of the year have been infused with Asian flavor, and this trend isn’t slowing down any time soon."
Partnering with CAPE (Coalition of Asian Pacifics in Entertainment) and 3AF (The Asian American Advertising Federation), for the event, Mnet America is supported by leading brand partners and entertainment companies. The Mnet America Pre-GRAMMY will take place on February 7th at the East West Studios, Hollywood. Red carpet arrivals will take place starting 6:30PM and will go on for an hour.
