Actress Nam Yoonjung passes away, cause of death still being debated
On August 1st, actress Nam Yoonjung was found dead in her home. Police have declared suicide as the cause of death, but the actress’s family believe otherwise.
According to one of the police officials responsible for Nam Yoonjung’s case, Nam Yoonjung committed suicide, and her daughter was the one who reported the death. In addition, a sorrowful will has also been found in the actress’s home. The police have also found through the investigation that Nam Yoonjung had suffered from severe depression and had even once been hospitalized for treatment. The actress also lost her husband to an accident last year, and her late husband’s company has encountered financial problems.
Although police have attributed the cause of Nam Yoonjung’s death to suicide, the actress’s family believe that she died of over-exhaustion. According to family members, Nam Yoonjung had just finished lunch around 12PM the day she died before going for an afternoon nap, and her daughter went to her home around 3PM and she discovered that the actress had already passed away. Thus, family members believe that Nam Yoonjung died of over-exhaustion from work rather than suicide.
In addition, Nam Yoonjung’s older brother has pleaded with the media to stop spreading false rumors about how the actress died of suicide. He has stated that the actress’s family is already depressed by the news of the death and they do not want to hear such explanations. However, some people have said that Nam Yoonjung’s family is denying suicide as the cause of death due to consideration for the deceased’s reputation.
One of Nam Yoonjung’s former co-actors has also expressed his sorrow over the actress’s death, stating, “After Nam Yoonjung’s husband passed away, life became very difficult for her. She’s was a person who valued all those around her, so I am very sad to hear of her death.”
Born in 1954, Nam Yoonjung filmed for over 30 Korean dramas, including KBS’s “Love and Marriage,” MBC’s “White Tower” and “Dangerous Woman,” and JTBC’s “A Wife’s Credentials.”
The passing away of such a respected actress saddens us, and we would like to extend our condolences to all her family and friends.
