CCM's CEO Kim Kwangsoo answers a short interview after the announcement + release about Music Bank performance
After the announcement revealing Hwayoung's contract termination, Core Contents Media's CEO Kim Kwangsoo answered a short interview in an attempt to clarify some of the questions that were raised. These answers perhaps came in response to Hwayoung's short tweet after the conference.
The reporters stated, "The announcement's wording was a bit ambiguous. I think it might have raised even more controversy." To this, he responded, "I can't reveal more. Disclosing the full truth will cause some to be hurt."
Questioners pressed, "Was the dispute between Hwayoung and other members a big factor to her departure?" The chairman replied, "The problem wasn't between the good or bad among the members. Rather, it was a problem raised by the staff."
This answer prompted another question about the reasons behind Hwayoung's contract termination. They asked, "Since the staff seemed to be the reason described in the official announcement, what exactly were these problems between them and Hwayoung?" Kim Kwangsoo stated, "I don't want to talk about it. I will not make any personal attacks, but staff members work very hard after driving all through the night and doing the group's hair and make-up. It was very difficult for them as they even cried saying they wanted to quit. Although a singer is important to me, the sweat and tears of staff members are precious. I couldn't allow this harm to keep happening."
The interview ended with a final request regarding the chairman, asking him, "If you give some specific events, wouldn't that quell the controversy?" He replied, "This whole case is just so big - I don't want to talk about it anymore." He continued, indicating he did not want to say anymore on this issue as to avoid further controversy. However, there is some ambiguity in if he was saying he would stay quiet or if he wanted Hwayoung to stay quiet.
Yet, Core Contents Media gave a description of the Music Bank incident. According to this release, Hwayoung was supposed to perform her rap and the rest of her part sitting down because of her leg injury. The group even went through rehearsal with this plan. However, with just two groups to go before T-ara, Hwayoung suddenly said that she did not want to perform. In response to this unexpected behavior, Hyomin had to suddenly prepare the rap to deliver it on stage. Because of her nerves, she made a mistake.
Not only this, they continued, after not appearing on stage, Hwayoung threw her crutches onto the ground, threatening to scream at the managers. Witnesses indicated that this happened several times.
