Fans react to (and parody) first episodes of "Miss Ripley"
New Monday-Tuesday drama "Miss Ripley", which premiered on May 30th, has become a hot topic among netizens. After receiving good reviews from critics and the highest ratings among its timeslot, netizens have commented on the similarities between JYJ's Park Yoochun and his character, and even created a parody of the story so far with clips from the cast's previous dramas.
In a scene where Kang Hyejung's character, Moon Heejoo, meets Yoochun's character, Song Yoohyun, for the first time, Heejoo accidentally spills cleaning solution on his shirt. She is quick to apologize, but Yoohyun nonchalantly buttons up his suitjacket to cover the mess. Netizens pointed out the similarity between this scene and a CF Yoochun previously appeared in. In another scene, Yoohyun befriends a small child in the airport, showing his fatherly side, and netizens commented not only on the similarity between Yoohyun's actions and Yoochun's gentle public image, but the similarity of their fashion styles. Yoohyun seemed to adopt Yoochun's famous "airport fashion".
Netizens also created a parody video called "Joseon Dynasty's 'Miss Ripley'", which spliced clips from Lee Dahae's "Chuno" and Yoochun's "Sungkyunkwan Scandal" to create a historical fiction version of the new drama. The video shows the two falling in love, and Lee revealing her secret, not unlike the direction "Miss Ripley" may take. However, Lee's secret is that she is a slave and is using a false name, like her character in "Chuno". The parody was well-received, with one netizen hoping that the producers of "Miss Ripley" see it.
"Miss Ripley" tells the story of Jang Miri, played by Lee Dahae, who escapes from Japan and forges her diploma to get ahead in Seoul.
