Jay Park gets new tattoo + asks fans to be understanding

Submitted: Jan 06 2011 12:20 AM by Flowsion

It was recently revealed by SidusHQ's CEO that Jay Park got a new tattoo. This adds onto his tattoo's behind his ear, on his chest and on the back of his neck. The new tattoo is across the back of his hand and is in stylized text.

However, not all fans were happy with his decision to get another tattoo. They began tweeting him with their disapproval, but Jay was quick to respond to the tweets. He said, "I'm not cutting my hair short for you guys. I'm trying to make songs better than 'Bestie' for you guys. I'm trying to cut down on concerts because I feel like you guys are spending too much money on me, so I'm waiting until I put out an album for that. Don't say all these things just because I got a tattoo. I like it, stress reliever."

He continued on to say, "Please respect my decisions, I'm a 25 year old man." It's good to see artists standing up for themselves and doing what they want to, instead of being cautiously under the spotlight and doing things under the radar.

What do you think of Jay's tweets and new tattoos?

As long as he doesn't touch the face, I don't care.

Hey, I don't care. It's true. No one has any say on this but him. So, yah, I applaud him for standing up for himself.

I totally agree with you Flowison. I only wish other companies and the Korean public in general would too. Jay's case is rather unique; if he were still in 2PM, or if it were any other solo artist, they would probably be seriously reprimanded for speaking out and dishonoring the nation or being disrespectful to the fans, or some other trumped up charge. Luckily in Jay's case he's not 100% kpop anymore, so the netizen rage is muted. I so wish that Kpop artists felt comfortable enough to speak up for themselves. Half of them even hide their tattoos from the fans; I'm glad Jay isn't like that.

haha I'm sure other idols would do the same(speaking out I mean), but it's probably partially because Jay's from the states and so he's more chill. His company also seems to be less confining compared to the other ones. He no longer has that perfect image to uphold.

The tattoo looks like it's on his arm not his hand.

I'm not a fan of tattoos... I have to agree with n89807, I do find that they mar beautiful skin and that they're not particularly attractive things. However, it's really nice to hear him standing up for himself. It's sad when so many idols have to apologise for things they do in their personal lives. Well done, Jay! He's still sweet by saying that he's trying to lower costs but still reinforcing his masculinity by saying 'I'm a 27 year old man', he's still saying that he's in control in some way. One of the many things that I love about him! <3

I'm not fond of tattoos neither but dude, Jay can make his own decisions himself. Does he have to get fans' permission even when just getting tattoo?!

Good for you Jay! Someone has to remind fans that stars are also people who can make decisions for themselves too. I understand that you (being a star) have to watch what you do because of your fans but fans need to realize that you are your own person. You are a grown man who can decide on what's good for you and what's not.
