MBC Star Auditions to be held in Los Angeles
MBC's "MBC Star Audition", Korea's most celebrated singing competition program, will hold auditions for the show's third season. Contestants from across the world will be chosen to compete on the show for a cash prize in addition to an opportunity to debut as a pop singer in Korea. The Los Angeles auditions are set to be held on Sunday, August 12, 2012, and further details including time and location will be released soon.
Contestants who pass the initial audition phase will be flown to Korea in September to compete against other finalists for the grand prize and the opportunity to begin a career as a pop singer. As the auditions progress, finalists will perform live on stage in front of thousands of people. Furthermore, the finalists who are chosen to travel to Korea will receive mentoring from notable Korean pop celebrities -- last season, singers such as Lena Park, Lee Sunhee ("Korea’s Sweetheart"), and K-pop composer Yoon Ilsang (one of Korea’s most famed producers, who also) participated in the mentoring process, providing finalists with one-on-one training with industry professionals to further improve their knowledge and skills.
The auditions are open to anyone, with no age, gender, or ethnicity requirements – the only prerequisite is that contestants should be able to sing at least one song in Korean. Fluency in Korean is not necessary, however.
On-line applications are available at MBC’s website.
The deadline for application is August 11, 2012 – however, walk-in applicants on the day of auditions are welcome as well.
