SM Entertainment to hold Global Auditions in 2012

Submitted: Oct 22 2011 07:40 PM by Kaye

SM Entertainment revealed their plans for 2012 global auditions through their official website. Next year's auditions include events in New York, Chicago, Toronto, Vancouver, LA and San Francisco; as well as auditions in Japan, China and Korea.

The auditions will be taken in various categories, including singer, actor/actress, model, dancer, songwriter and lyricist. Anyone is free to apply and no audition fee is asked. Anyone who wants to take part in the auditions, however, will only be able to audition once and won't be able to take a second chance at another audition later on the schedule.

The series of auditions will start with a first date on February 18th in New York, before it takes off to the other cities. Venues for the events haven't been revealed yet.

More detailed information for the North America round of auditions can be found on SM Entertainment's website over here. The Asian auditions' mini sites can be accessed over here.

It is also revealed that you can apply for the auditions through your YouTube account or just by simply sending an audition video to everysing. More information on the everysing/SMTOWN website.

So they're going to be in Toronto in March-ish? Oh wow. I hope they have a bigger venue than the past few years then. Hundreds of people waiting outside in -20 degree weather? Nooot pleasant :S

Wow, a lot of auditions are going through these two years. First Cube, then the KPOP STAR program, JYP and now SM. I wonder if other entertainment companies will do this too. :)

You should check the official websites, but it should be both. Either you apply through youtube, or you come to the live ones.

Hi, can someone please tell me how to submit an audition (dance) video via Youtube, or how to send a video to them? I'm pretty lost.

    Two questions.
Do you have to be asian?
And if you audition this year but don't make it, can you audition in 2013?

What they are saying on the website is that you have to register on the internet (though email or Youtube) before the audition date. They will not accept walk-ins. This is what they mean by "no direct registration."
