Big Bang’s T.O.P. Nominated For Acting Newbie Award
Big Bang’s rapper TOP is truly at the top as he is the first idol star to successfully break out into the film industry with a prestigious Daejong Awards nomination. TOP impressed movie critics for his remarkable acting in "Into The Gunfire". As a rookie, he successfully starred alongside a few of the most talented veterans, Kwon Sang-woo and Cha Seung-won. The film portrayed a group of students who were caught up in the Korean war to defend their country against North Korea.
This Daejong Film Festival nomination marks him as the first idol star to successfully break into the acting world. A few idol stars have been nominated at smaller events, such as the Chungmuro International Film Festival, but never before into the notable Daejong Awards. Prior to “Into the Gunfire”, TOP has also starred in the popular action drama “IRIS.”
Festival representatives stated that the nominees were carefully selected through a fair and reflective process. The Big Bang rapper is nominated alongside Song Sae-byeok and Daniel Choi for the award. All three young stars have acted in notable movies this past year, making the competition fierce. Song was in the hit film "The Servant" and Choi starred in the commercial hit "Cyrano Agency".
