JYJ fans crash the Lotte Cinema server

Submitted: Feb 21 2012 05:15 AM by kireido

For a movie that almost didn't get a release date, JYJ's "The Day" is proving to exceed expectations. "The Day" is a documentary style movie about the boys' everyday life which was initially created for TV and was set to air on QTV. At the last minute however, it was cancelled. Next GGV theaters was going to release the movie, but they too cancelled the plan. Finally, Lotte Cinema took over the project and the movie received an official run date from February 23rd to 26th.

On February 20th, the pre-sale for tickets to the upcoming movie opened on the Lotte Cinema website and almost immediately, the server crashed. According to the Lotte Cinema tweet, "Over 110,000 people rushed to the site and crashed the server. We are sorry for the inconvenience. We will do our best to restore the website."

The servers came back online a little while later and proceeded to sell out. Lotte Cinema also tweeted the following results: "The ticket sale for 19 theaters began at 4pm and all the tickets were sold out in one hour. The theater in Busan set record as all the tickets were sold out in five minutes."

These advanced placement tickets are for a series of 8 shows of which the three members of JYJ will attend and meet the fans. This will include 4 showings in Hongdae on February 23rd, and 4 showings near Konkuk University on the 25th.

Considering the fact that the 90-minute movie has sold out in all 19 of the theaters it was going to be aired in, Lotte Cinema is currently contemplating adding extra showing dates.
