Rain makes a surprise appearance at "R2B: Return to Base" screening
Rain's highly anticipated film, "R2B: Return to Base," has begun showing in theaters across Korea. After a screening of the movie on August 22nd at a CGV theater in Seoul, the cast of the "R2B: Return To Base" surprised the audience with a stage greeting. To express their thanks for the audience's support, the cast handed out special gifts, including "Sekyung chips" - homemade cookies by actress Shin Sekyung, and sports towels autographed by the entire cast.
Then, actor Kim Sungsoo asked the audience, "Are there any army men in the crowd?," and Rain, who had been quietly sitting in the back, raised his hand. Rain is currently serving his mandatory military service, and last month, he had written a letter to fans, promising Director Kim Dongwon that he would spend his own money to watch the film on his day off. Dressed casually in a button-down shirt and black cap, Rain greeted the audience and thanked them again for choosing to watch "R2B: Return To Base."
Meanwhile, "R2B" hits North American theaters tomorrow on August 24th, and for the first time, CJ Entertainment America will release the film with Chinese subtitles at the AMC Atlantic Times Square Montery Park location. Rain's popularity among the Chinese and Chinese-American community has grown significantly because of his appearance in dramas such as "Full House," and releasing the film with Chinese subtitles will definitely help reach out to those audiences.
