Former GFRIEND‘s Yerin has revealed that she turned to artificial intelligence while working on her latest album. On June 9, Yerin held a press showcase in Seoul to celebrate the release of her fourth mini album REACH YOU.

During the event, the singer opened up about her journey as a solo artist, admitting that she never originally dreamed of performing alone. She explained that each album has helped her better understand herself and discover new sides of her identity. While discussing the creative process behind the album, Yerin surprised reporters by revealing that she had even used ChatGPT to help explore her emotions and better understand her music.

“I was actually someone who never had a dream of standing on stage as a solo artist. Rather than becoming a new Yerin, it feels like I’m discovering parts of myself that I didn’t know existed. As a solo singer, I didn’t want to stop at simply recording songs. I spent a lot of time analyzing them and thinking about how to convey them. I even paid for ChatGPT and had conversations with it to draw out my own emotions. The process of examining myself piece by piece wasn’t easy, but while studying my songs, I learned a lot about myself too.”

The confession drew laughter from those in attendance. According to Yerin, the process of digging deeper into her own thoughts wasn’t always easy, but it ultimately helped her better understand both herself and the music she wanted to create.

As AI continues to become a growing, yet highly debatable part of the entertainment industry, Yerin’s candid admission has sparked discussion among fans, with many finding it refreshing that she openly shared how technology helped inspire her creative process.
