Nana’s Home Robber Receives Shocking Sentence
A man identified as A, who broke into the home of After School member-turned-actress Nana, has received a shocking sentence for his actions.
On the 9th, the Criminal Division 1 of the Namyangju Branch of Uijeongbu District Court sentenced the man in his 30s, A, who was arrested and charged with threatening Nana at her home with a weapon, to seven years in prison.
The court recognized A’s charges of robbery with injury and robbery causing injury, and also acknowledged the legitimate self-defense of Nana and her mother, handing down a seven-year sentence.
Earlier, the prosecution requested a 10-year prison term, stating, “The defendant committed a serious offense by unlawfully entering a residence with a weapon and threatening female victims. He denies the charges and shows no remorse, and the victims are suffering psychological distress.”
A’s defense attorney argued in closing, “He broke into the home at night with intent to steal, not to rob by force. There is no evidence that the defendant carried a weapon during the break-in.”
A himself stated, “I sincerely apologize to the victims and will never commit a crime again. I admit to unlawful entry and attempted theft but deny committing robbery.” He also expressed his intention to submit medical documents indicating he sustained a cut over 5cm deep from a knife wound.
A was accused of breaking into Nana’s home in Guri, Gyeonggi Province last November, demanding valuables and threatening her with a weapon. Nana and her mother subdued him after a physical struggle and handed him over to the police.
Nana appeared as a witness in court and said, “I thought I was okay after this incident. But somehow, it has remained a trauma in my life. Why has this trial dragged on so long, and why must we suffer such humiliation? It feels like we are being harmed over and over again,” revealing the severe trauma she endured.
