Kim Soo Hyun and Cha Tae Hyun to star in an upcoming KBS drama “Producer”
An upcoming drama Producer for KBS has already garnered a heated attention not only for its plot but also for its semi-casting confirmation.
Seo Soo Min PD, who has been responsible for Gag Concert for years, and writer Park Ji Eun, who has wrote the hit SBS drama My Love From the Star, have come together to launch a new genre in drama. Producer is to be a hybrid drama with the essence of a variety show and drama mixed together.
Although the full casting is yet to be confirmed, the highly aspired drama is to star Kim Soo Hyun and Cha Tae Hyun. It cannot be missed that both were once opposing partners of Jun Ji Hyun in a hit drama and movie respectively. Kim Soo Hyun, who is to make his comeback to the small screen after a year and half, is to play the role of a rookie PD, while Cha Tae Hyun will be a veteran PD with 10 years of expertise. The lead females roles for another PD and singer is to be confirmed soon.
Differing from past hit dramas’ airing schedule, Producer is planning to broadcast on Friday and Saturday evenings. This golden weekend airing block is similar to that of more recent hit dramas, including, tvN‘s Reply series and Misaeng. However, KBS still needs to rearrange the broadcasting schedule to make space for the drama.
With this knowledge in hand, it is speculated that the drama will start airing its pilot episode on April 17th at 11PM KST. Despite the facts that lead female roles are to be confirmed and fixed airing schedule arrangements are to be made, Producer is set to begin their filming at the latest in March.
