2NE1’s Sandara Park Exposes The Difference In Treatment For Boy VS Girl Groups At YG Entertainment
On August 3rd, 2NE1‘s Sandara Park appeared as a guest on the YouTube channel I Am Dong Baek. Alongside Super Junior’s Donghae and Eunhyuk, she shared behind-the-scenes stories from their days as 2nd generation idols.
Donghae testified that Sandara Park was not allowed to leave the dorm. Sandara Park said, “We were called hip-hop, but that was just in name,” referring to the strict control at YG Entertainment.
Eunhyuk agreed, saying, “I thought YG would be more free about that.” Sandara Park added, “The male groups were free, but we stayed only in the dorm,” and “Even when going to the convenience store, we had to ask the manager.”
She expressed envy toward SM Entertainment, with a relatively freer atmosphere, saying, “The Girls’ Generation members were much more active.”

They also mentioned the activity systems of SM and YG. Eunhyuk said, “SM plans everything thoroughly by the year, scheduling everything on calculated dates,” comparing it to YG’s freer system.
Sandara Park explained, “Above all, the quality had to be good, so if the song wasn’t at least slightly satisfying, they scrapped it and started over.” She confessed, “I felt a bit disappointed because we had very few stages to perform on in a year.”
