On September 4, aespa kicked off the Latin American leg of their SYNK : COMPLæXITY world tour at the Mercado Livre Arena Pacaembu in São Paulo, Brazil. For concerts, the venue has a capacity of up to 40,000 people across seated and standing areas.

Just weeks before the show, tickets went on sale at a steep 60% discount, bringing the price down to around R$250 BRL (about $48 USD).

However, despite the markdown, large portions of the arena remained empty throughout the performance.

In particular, the back sections and the floor area were noticeably bare. When a photo from the concert was posted to aespa’s social media, fans immediately zeroed in on how the upper tier of the arena had been completely darkened, concealing the rows of unsold seats.

Given aespa’s popularity as one of SM Entertainment’s biggest acts, the low turnout caught numerous fans off guard, sparking major negative reactions.

The SYNK : COMPLæXITY tour is set to continue in Santiago, Chile on September 6 at the 15,000-capacity Movistar Arena.
