On September 27 (local time), the BLACKPINK member attended the VMAs, turning heads right from her red-carpet entrance. She also ended up becoming the evening’s first winner, when her song, “Dream,” won the Moon Person for best pop. She won big against other heavyweight artists, including Ariana Grande, Taylor Swift, Charli XCX, and Olivia Rodrigo.

Lisa took the stage amid loud cheers and gave a tearful acceptance speech, thanking her fans and collaborators on the song. Notably, “Dream” was featured on Lisa’s debut solo album, Alter Ego, which was released in February 2025.

This win has, however, triggered a major backlash online. Many netizens downplayed the category itself, calling it an “attendance award,” while others claimed that Lisa’s win was neither fair nor transparent. The idol was also accused of buying awards.

Meanwhile, Lisa is also nominated for other accolades at the award show, including categories such as Best K-Pop and Best Cinematography.
