Netizens are baffled by the price tag.

On the day of the anniversary, the four members of BLACKPINK appeared at the National Museum of Korea and held a candid meet-and-greet event with 40 fans.

At the event, every fan was given some gift items, including a small bouquet and a pack of premium rice cakes (tteok). Netizens later discovered that the tteok given to fans cost only around ₩6,900 KRW (about $4.90 USD) per pack.

The scale of this fan tribute has struck many as odd, given the previous instances of BLACKPINK members treating their fans to luxury treats. Some heated comments argued that the 10th-anniversary event lacked sincerity on all fronts, while others blamed YG Entertainment for mismanagement.

  • “And this is how BLACKPINK is ending things…”
  • “I don’t have even the slightest interest in it, but you have to accept what’s being offered. After that, it’s up to the fans what they choose to do.”
  • “How can they show such a lack of gratitude toward the fans…”
  • “And this is while they are all ambassadors of luxury brands…If they had just gone to a department store and bought each fan a lip balm, even that would have been better than this. And they invited merely 40 people…”
  • “Jisoo even wrote a letter and couldn’t hold back her tears in front of the fans; it was heartbreaking to see…:
  • “It’s weird enough that they chose to give out rice cakes in this weather, but the fact that they’re only 7,000 won…”
