Recently, Bong Joon Ho spoke with American film director, producer, and writer Rian Johnson on The Director’s Cut podcast. Early in their conversation, he revealed that he has been busy writing two new scripts. He shocked Johnson by saying that he has already finished one!

It feels like I’m splitting my brain in half left and right writing these two scripts. But I finished one last week.

Known for his unique blend of genres, Bong Joon Ho has given an idea of what genres these next two films will be although he has yet to share plots. He also said that one will be primarily in English while the other will be Korean.

The Korean film is located in Seoul and has unique elements of horror and action. It’s difficult to define the genre of my films. The English project is a drama film based on a true event that happened in 2016. Of course, I won’t know until I finish the script, but it has to be set half in the UK and half in the US.

Bong Joon Ho is not one to shy away from multilingual work. Two of his most popular films, Snowpiercer and Okja had both Korean and English dialogue. Additionally, Snowpiercer and even Parasite have inspired American adaptations.

Bong Joon Ho’s work never disappoints! We can’t wait for his next film.
