Cube Entertainment Signs With Chinese Giant Alibaba For Advancement Into China
Cube Entertainment, home to acts such as (G)I-DLE, BTOB and CLC, has signed with Chinese tech giant Alibaba for advancement into China. The Alibaba Group is founded by Jack Ma and owns many technological services including e-Commerce site TaobaoMall and payment app, Alipay.
According to media reports, the two companies have joined hands to help Cube Entertainment artists advance into the Chinese market. Alibaba will be in charge of handling the artists’ Chinese management. In the future, they will be receiving the help from Alibaba for any Chinese schedules including dramas, movies, CFs and performances even. This is a first for Alibaba as well, as they have yet to move into the field of Korean entertainment.
Given that cube Entertainment is home to Chinese national rising rookie, Yuqi from (G)I-DLE, as well as many multi-national trainees that have yet to be revealed, this may be a convenient change for them as it makes it easier for them to promote in their homeland.
The Alibaba Group has incredible market share of about 85% in the technological field, and also operates media platforms such as Alibaba Pictures, Tudou and Youku.
(G)I-DLE’s rising popularity in China makes the situation a win-win one, with their music video for “DUMDi DUMDi” hitting over 18,000,000 views in 18 hours on Weibo. Yuqi was also a regular on the Chinese version of Running Man. Stay tuned to see how this plays out and for updates on future plans!
