Macklemore, who recently opened two concerts for Ed Sheeran‘s ongoing tour, became a hot topic after being dropped from the rest of the tour. The rapper released a statement informing fans that Robert Kraft, who owns Gillette Stadium in Massachusetts, had lobbied with other stadium owners in the US to remove Macklemore from Ed Sheeran’s tour after he made on-stage comments in support of Palestine’s liberation. Kraft later published his own statement, confirming that he was a driving force behind the decision, labeling Macklemore’s support for Palestine’s decolonization as “antisemitism.”

The situation has triggered a massive and heated political debate, with netizens closely monitoring which prominent artists step forward to show their support for Macklemore, a vocal advocate for Palestine for years. KATSEYE fans noted that members Lara and Megan had “liked” the rapper’s post, and interpreted it as their public support for the artist, as well as the cause.

However, the praise was not all. Some felt it was a “bare minimum” gesture, while others emphasized that the group should stop performing the song “Animals” because it was co-written by Ed Sheeran.

Some also speculated whether the members would be “punished” with forced hiatuses, bringing up Manon and her vocal support for Palestine.

Meanwhile, KATSEYE is currently on tour, and their concerts have already sparked controversies.
