An idol-turned-actor shared a story when he was abandoned by his agency in an unfamiliar place, with a language barrier and without his phone.
On July 6th, tvN’s You Quiz on the Block released a preview of U-KISS member-turned-actor Lee Jun Young’s appearance.
Having promoted in Japan for a long time as a member of U-KISS, Lee Jun Young said he underwent intense Japanese language training. He shared, “The hyungs were already very good at Japanese. I only knew three phrases: ‘Kombanwa,’ ‘Konnichiwa,’ and ‘Arigatou Gozaimasu.’ But it was harsh.”
Then, he recalled a time when he was basically abandoned on the streets, saying, “They dropped me off right in the middle of Shibuya and told me to find my way back to the dorm. It was only a 15-minute walk, but I didn’t know how to speak. I didn’t even have my phone, so it took me four hours to walk that 15-minute distance. I was so frustrated because I only knew those three words and had to learn no matter what.”
Lee Jun Young added, “It was my first time in Japan, so I was totally overwhelmed,” and added, “I knew the address. I lived in a place called Kamiyamacho. I kept asking passersby, ‘How do I get to Kamiyamacho?’”
