KARD’s BM And Ladies’ Code’s Ashley Choi Discuss The Drinking Culture In Korea

It is very different from America!

In the latest episode of DIVE Studio‘s Get Real, hosts KARD‘s BM, BTOB‘s Peniel, and Ladies’ Code‘s Ashley Choi discussed some of the cultural differences they’ve noticed in Korea.

In particular, they looked at the drinking culture in Korea and how different it is from America.

There are so many things you have to learn, and you get bashed on if you don’t if you don’t know them.

Peniel then listed some of the rules that you are expected to know in Korea when you go for a drink with someone.

You have to look away, you have to drink with both hands, and you have to pour with both hands.

If that didn’t seem complicated enough, BM added that you also have to pour the drink of those older than you.

Despite it being the norm for most Koreans, Ashley explained that she didn’t know how the conventions came about, especially when you have to turn away before drinking.

BM tried to think of his reasons, thinking that it could be because alcohol is seen as “dirty.” Peniel added that it could be because of the face people made when they drank.

Although the real reasons may never be known, it is good to be aware of the rules to make sure you’re respectful when drinking in Korea.
