After fans slammed the music video for KATSEYE’s new single “Hootie Frutti,” the song is coming under fire again for its “dangerous” choreography.

When the “Hootie Frutti” music video dropped earlier this week, it was quickly branded “over-sexualized,” particularly given that KATSEYE has a large following of young fans. Now, following the track’s first live performance at the TODAY show’s Citi Concert in New York City, fans are also criticizing its choreography.

Many have branded the routine “messy,” claiming that the members appear to be out of sync throughout the performance.

More concerning, however, is a headbanging move involving Daniela, Megan, and Yoonchae, with many fans worrying that it could put the members at risk of injury.

The concern echoes a recent incident involving HYBE labelmate Chaewon, who showed visible signs of discomfort performing an intense headbanging move while promoting LE SSERAFIM’s single “Celebration” earlier this year.

Chaewon later spent a month on hiatus for neck pain treatment and recovery, which caused her to miss promotions for PUREFLOW Pt. 1.

Given that two KATSEYE members are already on hiatus, the timing is making the concern feel even more pressing. On August 7, HYBE x Geffen Records announced that Sophia would be taking a temporary hiatus to prioritize her wellbeing, following Manon’s hiatus since February.
