A Korean comedian-turned-broadcaster recently shared an update after removing her lip fillers, surprising netizens with the condition of her lips after the procedure.
On July 5th, Maeng Seung Zi posted on her social media, “After going on a hotel vacation, I went to the hospital to dissolve my lip fillers,” along with a photo.
In the photo, Maeng’s lips are noticeably swollen right after the filler removal procedure.
She explained her current condition herself, saying, “The hyaluronidase used to dissolve the fillers caused a lot of swelling.”
Maeng also revealed the reason she initially got lip fillers back in February.
She said, “I took a photo of the lips I wanted and asked to have them done that way,” adding, “The doctor said, ‘I don’t think it will look pretty…’ but I insisted on trying it once and went through with it.”
However, her feelings changed over time.
Maeng confessed, “Looking back at photos and videos, I felt, ‘This isn’t my face.’ The lips stood out too much, looked unnatural, and it wasn’t the feeling I wanted.”
She added, “My mom also said, ‘Your lips look really weird,’” explaining why she ultimately decided to remove the fillers.
Currently, though the swelling is severe right after the procedure, she is optimistic about the recovery. She said, “They said the swelling should go down in about three days,” and “Interestingly, after dissolving the fillers, my lips feel much lighter and my mind is more at ease.”
She concluded with her thoughts, “As expected, too much of anything isn’t good. Whether it’s treatments or plastic surgery, getting carried away doesn’t make you prettier. A slightly imperfect look is the most natural and sophisticated. Let’s all hold back a bit on our desires and stay beautiful for a long time.”
Maeng Seung Zi debuted in 2013 as part of MBC’s 20th class of comedians and gained recognition through shows like Falling for Comedy and as a reporter on Infinite Challenge.
Recently, she announced, “I will retire from being a comedian,” but sparked interest by saying she will continue to be active in acting, broadcasting, and production.
