BTOB’s Yook Sungjae Returns To Twitter To Call Out A Stalker Selling His Phone Number

The account was attempting to sell several idols’ personal information.

BTOB‘s Sungjae is not extremely active on some of his social media accounts but took the time to return to Twitter to call out a stalker following a year-long hiatus from the app.

K-Pop idols often have to deal with stalker fans, also known as sasaeng fans, invading their privacy at all times. This can range from actual assaults on artists like the physical attacks that TVXQ members Changmin and Yunho have dealt with over the years, to these “fans” harassing idols at all hours at the places they visit and live. NCT‘s Taeyong recently described the stress that sasaeng fans cause him by calling his phone.

In a previous video, K-Rapper and YouTuber Grace Kim shared that sasaengs will often work at companies where they can access celebrity information like telephone companies, credit card companies, and internet sites. From there some of these fans will sell the information on sites like Instagram and Twitter.

This is exactly what was happening to Sungjae causing his unexpected return to Twitter. A Twitter account with the handle @ou_selly posted several times that it had not only Sungjae’s cell phone number but other members of BTOB as well.

It’s not clear how Sungjae saw the tweets by this account as the last time it seems like he was active on Twitter was in November 2021, but he was about to call them out over this matter.

Excuse me, you’re going to get reported doing that…

It seems like the call-out worked, and the tweet with his information was removed for violating Twitter’s rules.

Not long after, fans called for other Melody (BTOB’s fan club name) to continue to report the account, leading to its suspension from Twitter completely.

While idols are not always able to fight back against stalkers, it’s nice to see that Sungjae was able to stop this account from selling his personal information!
