BTS Had The Most Retweeted Tweet Of The Year—And It Was For The Best Cause

They are true role models.

It probably shouldn’t come as a surprise to anyone that BTS would star in Twitter’s highlights of the year. But fans will be incredibly proud to see that BTS not only had the most retweeted tweet of the year, but also that this particular tweet had a very important message.

BTS and ARMYs dominated multiple Twitter categories, but it says a lot about the group that their most retweeted tweet of 2021 was against racism. They tweeted in support of the Stop Asian Hate movement, since this past year saw a rise in racist attacks against the Asian community.

The tweet currently stands at over 1 million retweets and more than 2.5 million likes. It contains two images of the statement that BTS made on the matter, one in Korean and one in English. Their words show how much thought they put into this statement, as well as into their significant role as the biggest Korean artists in the world.

What is happening right now cannot be dissociated from our identity as Asians. It required considerable time for us to discuss this carefully and we contemplated deeply on how we should voice our message. But what our voice must convey is clear. We stand against racial discrimination. We condemn violence. You, I and we all have the right to be respected. We still stand together.

This powerful message carries a lot of weight. Fans all over the world fall in love with BTS because of their heartfelt message of love and inclusiveness, which is why the group has become a beacon of positivity for so many. It’s extremely reassuring to always see how seriously BTS take that role and how well aware they are of their position as the most followed K-Pop group in the world. Thank you, BTS, for standing for what’s right!
