A rare incident involving an idol’s private life has officially come to a close.
In July 2026, Takasaki Mei, a member of the J-Pop group MEOWMEW, was exposed by a netizen for allegedly having sex with a wealthy fan. Photos of the idol allegedly having sex were then leaked, resulting in her being placed on hiatus.
Initially, her agency stated that due to her genuine remorse for violating the group’s rules and after many discussions with the members, she would remain in the group.

However, on September 11, it was announced that Mei’s continued rule violations had resulted in her being expelled from the group.
Since then, Mei’s account on X has been privated, and she has not made posts on Instagram.

Mei was a founding member of MEOWMEW, having been with the group since their debut in July 2025.
