10+ Photos That Show Why You Need To Go TO Korea’s Annual Body Painting Festival

These aren’t models. They’re living works of art!

Every year, international body painters gather in South Korea to transform models into larger than life fantasy creations for the Daegu International Bodypainting Festival.

This year, the art extravaganza took place on August 25 and 26 at the Kolon Field Concert Hall in Daegu.

The theme? “Love” brought to life through “fantasy”.

Sixty-one teams of international artists combined body painting with costumery to put on a theatrical show for their audience that included magic, music, and dance. In addition to this, visitors could also enjoy free nail art and face painting.

The competition was divided into two categories: body painting…

The top three winners received cash prizes, which greatly exceeded the participants’ per-team entry fees of 100,000 won ($90 USD) for body painters and 50,000 won ($45 USD) for make-up artists.

The top winner of the DIBF Bodypainting Awards received a trophy and 10 million won ($9,000 USD),  while the top winner of the DIBF Fantasy Make-up Awards took home a trophy and 3 million won ($2,700 USD).

Even the models were able to win prizes. The DIBF Best Model Award winner received 1 million won ($900 USD).
