NCT DREAM’s Renjun Reveals Which K-Pop Group Made Him Want To Join SM Entertainment

They made a tough decision slightly easier!

NCT DREAM‘s Mark, Chenle, Renjun, Jisung were the latest guests on DIVE Studios‘ K-Pop Daebak with Eric Nam. During the episode, the members discussed how they fell in love with K-Pop, the group’s latest album, and they also took part in a friendship quiz.

In particular, host Eric Nam asked each of the members what their route was to become an idol. For Renjun, it wasn’t as simple as many. Born in China, he had to make the decision to move to Korea to live out his dream. Yet, it was an easy choice to move to pursue something he loves.

I started when I took a global audition. I enjoyed listening to K-Pop as a child. Rain, Wonder Girls’ ‘Nobody’ was my favorite. That’s when I learned about K-Pop, and I was interested since.

Yet, when it came to choosing which K-Pop company to sign with, it wasn’t as easy to make a decision.

I watched a TV show called K-Pop Star, and there were three labels, SM, YG, and JYP. So I thought these companies were amazing.

There was one thing that stood out to Renjun that made him choose SM Entertainment in the end. More specifically, it was one group that made the decision a lot easier for him.

I was indecisive on the companies as they changed often. But, after seeing EXO, I decided I wanted to get into SM, so I applied for the global audition.

Like many idols, EXO seemed to be the group that helped pave his way into the K-Pop industry. As NCT continues to grow, there is no denying that NCT will influence many future idols in some way. You can watch the whole episode below.
