Although BLACKPINK is on tour, the members have spent the last year focusing on solo projects, with each member releasing hit tracks. The members even showcased the popularity by performing them during their recent shows with the rest of the group, including “APT,” “FUTW,” “like JENNIE,” and “earthquake.”

In the midst of conversations surrounding the GRAMMYs, a tweet sparked major criticism after it was revealed that a HDD Insider had said that BLACKPINK were not eligible for the “best new artist” category as solo artists due to their recognition as a group, although they have not had a nomination for the awards before.

Although it isn’t a new rule, netizens called out the “racist” double-standards with the rules, pointing out that it has seemingly not mattered when it came to other Western artists, with many mentioning Sabrina Carpenter.
