Public Calls For Song Ji Hyo To Leave “Running Man”

SBS’s Running Man cast member Song Ji Hyo has recently come under scrutiny due to her noticeably limited screen time.

In the episode aired on the 8th, Song Ji Hyo’s solo screen time was only about 10 seconds. Out of the total 90-minute broadcast, she mostly appeared in reaction shots or group scenes and was criticized for not showing a leading role.

Immediately after the broadcast, online communities and Song Ji Hyo’s personal social media channels were filled with criticism, including calls for her to leave the show, questioning her professionalism as a fixed member.

This is not the first time Song Ji Hyo’s attitude and screen time have been controversial. In 2023, she faced backlash for her passive participation in the show. At that time, Yoo Jae Seok, a pillar of Running Man, defended her, saying, “Ji Hyo feels upset about her performance and tries hard. I encouraged her not to worry too much and just work harder next week,” showing solidarity with his colleague.

Song Ji Hyo is a member who has been part of the cast for 16 years since joining in 2010. In 2016, she went through a rocky patch when the production team notified her of her forced departure, but thanks to fan support, she made a strong comeback.

Recently, she appeared in a YouTube video, clearly stating that she has no intention of leaving. She expressed strong attachment to the program, saying, “I won’t quit on my own unless the producers decide to end the show.

However, with recurring controversies over her limited screen time, viewers’ patience is being tested. Whether she can regain her former glory as the show’s “ace” and turn around the public’s dissatisfaction remains to be seen, with much attention on Song Ji Hyo’s future moves.
