Kris Wu Responds Awkwardly To Interview Question About EXO

Kris Wu appeared on a recent broadcast of San Fransisco’s KYLD Wild 94.9 to talk about his career in Korea, the U.S., and China, as well as his collaboration with Travis Scott.

Kris Wu talked very candidly about his decision to leave EXO, how he didn’t really feel at home in Korea, and how he felt restricted by the K-Pop industry.

“Well, first of all I’m not Korean, right? I’m Chinese. Korea is not like a home for me, it’s not my base. So working there was still kind of stressful, I guess, for me.

And second, it’ll be because… Mostly because the way that K-Pop works is that you gotta kind of do stuff that your company asks you to do.

Everyone had no freedom, right? For me, it was super stressful because I wanna do my own stuff, right?”

Then Diaz asked what seemed to be a sensitive question for him.

“Do you talk to the guys at all anymore?”

— Gabby Diaz

Kris Wu did not seem eager to answer in depth and simply responded, “Yes” to Diaz’s prompts.

Diaz: Or is that kind of just like a…

Wu: Yeah, yeah.

Diaz: We’re separate now, and it is what it is.

Wu: Yeah, yeah.

This is one of the first times Kris has spoken publicly about his relationship with members of EXO since leaving the group in 2014.

Kris appears to be happy with his decision, however, as he talked about enjoying the freedom to own his own company in China and make the kind of music he wants in the U.S.

Speaking about his music, Kris went on to hint at a possible future collaboration with Pharrell.
