It has been speculated that Yu Menglong crossed paths with an influential industry insider and discovered evidence of their wrongdoings, resulting in his tragic death and alleged torture at the hands of others.

Some celebrities have been named in the netizen-led investigation, including singer-actor Fan Shiqi.
The star, once popular, has seen a change in public opinion due to his being connected to the death of Yu Menglong, who hosted a small get-together the night of his passing, and those in attendance, allegedly including Fan Shiqi, have been accused of playing a part in his death.

Earlier this month, it was alleged that Fan Shiqi’s Chengdu event, set to take place on October 18, had sold only 15 tickets, which was later clarified to be allegedly fewer than 50. Now, the stop has been cancelled in its entirety, reportedly due to “health issues.”
