VERIVERY made their debut in 2019 as a seven-member group with their first album Veri-Us. Since then, the group has remained active, most recently returning with “Lost and Found” in December 2025.

On April 11, the group performed at an event in Japan, which was broadcast online. Following the performance, however, a post discussing member Yeonho’s appearance went viral.

At debut, Yeonho had a slimmer appearance, but has since gained weight. The idol previously shared that he was “chubby” when he was younger and had worked to lose weight before their December comeback.

The post discussing his appearance was very harsh, insulting his looks with a screenshot from the performance.

Verivery Yoo Yeonho, you little fat pig, lose some damn weight already. I thought a wild boar crashed the stage/performance. F*ck, you said you were dieting, but you’ve gotten even fatter since then. With all those parts, every time this pig bastard pops up on camera, it feels like I can’t breathe.

Many subsequent reposts were not kinder, accusing him of not caring about fans and making comparisons to other idols who they consider to also be outside of typical K-Pop visuals.

  • This situation—where there’s not even a single response from the official account—basically shows your current situation, Joo Yeonho. In the end, it was you who made even the fans who used to defend you go silent. When you’re performing your parts on stage, you must feel it too—what the fans’ silence means. I hope you seriously take some time to think about it. And lose weight.
  • He used to look like someone you’d want to hold when he was younger, but now he looks like he’s carrying/sitting on eggs.
  • Honestly, in the case of Shindong, even when he gained weight, people could still let it slide because he’s a great dancer and has good variety skills. But Yeonho, for you—it’s different. Even after gaining weight, you’re not entertaining, you can’t dance well, your pitch goes flat like you’ve got a Big Mac stuck in your throat, you struggle with high notes, get out of breath faster than others after just a couple songs, and sweat more too. I sometimes think I want to become a fan, but all that comes out is a serious, straight-faced reaction.

Many came to the idol’s defense, calling out the harsh standards imposed on idols by some netizens and the unneeded hate comments.
