K-Pop Male Singer With A Child Out-Of-Wedlock Is Still Active Today, Despite Neglect Allegations

He has since had another child.

Recently, the report of a K-Pop idol having a child from a previous relationship became a hot topic.

The report claimed that a male idol in his late 30s was the father of a child born in 2022, with the legality of the situation unclear at the time.

This instance, however, is not the first time a male K-Pop idol has had a child out of wedlock.

SS501 member Kim Hyunjoong was involved in a scandal in 2014 where he was accused of abusing a girlfriend.

Subsequent findings aquitted him of these charges, but a new scandal followed shortly after. The pair had apparently reconciled, leading to a pregnancy, which Kim was informed of in January 2015. After it was reported, Kim’s agency confirmed that she was pregnant but not that he was the father.

The child was born in September 2015 and a paternity test that December established that he was the father, with a split custody agreement following after..

However, in 2022, Kim was accused of not paying child support for eight years, and having not met his son until very recently. His agency denied the allegations of not paying child support, claiming he paid an amount not decided by the courts due to his ex’s non-responsiveness.

The ongoing legal issues between the pair were also named as why he was not able to meet his son until the child was seven years old. The same year, Kim got married and welcomed another son with his wife that October.

Though his image was impacted by these scandals, Kim is still currently active. SS501 reunited last year as Five O One, and launched a tour that recently wrapped up in February 2026, with plans for an encore performance in Yokohama on May 5-6.
