3rd Generation Boy Group Finally Sees 7-Year Old Song Charting In Top 10

It’s about time!

Day6 is finally finding their place among the top groups in the Korean music industry.

JYP Entertainment debuted them as their first rock band in September 2015 with their album The Day, making them eight years old at present. They are made up of members Sungjin, Young K, Wonpil, and Dowoon.

Though most groups see a downward trajectory in their career, losing fans as they get older and new groups debut, the opposite is happening to Day6. The four member band is now busier than ever after all members finished their mandatory military service in November 2023.

Their song “You Were Beautiful” is their best charting song so far on MelOn. It ranked eighth in the Top 100 chart on April 17, the highest they have ever been on this chart.

“You Were Beautiful” was ranked in the 300s two years ago before jumping to the 200s range a year later for a consistent period of time. Several months afterwards, it grew on domestic listeners and became a sleeper hit.

They credit this increase in popularity to fan and fellow idol recommendations.

“Time Of Our Life” is another song that is charting well alongside “You Were Beautiful.” It was released on July 15, 2021 and is soon turning five years old.

In an interview with Korea Times, the group expressed their amazement at their growing popularity. They believe their lyrics are what made their songs relatable to listeners.

I think lyrics that resonate with fans are the reason why our music continues to be sought after. We always write sincere lyrics. I think fans empathize with that sincerity.
