C-Drama Under Fire After Revealing New Poster That Hits Too Close To A Popular K-Drama’s

A Chinese drama is under fire for alleged plagiarism.

A new poster from the youth drama Our Memories, starring actors Lu Xiaoyu and Fang Xiaodong, was shared online.

Netizens immediately found it suspiciously similar to the poster of popular K-Drama Our Beloved Summer.

Our Beloved Summer is a Studio N show that aired in December 2021. It stars Choi Woo Shik as Choi Ung, a last-ranked student who fell for top ranker Kook Yeon Soo (played by Kim Da Mi).

The posters of Our Memories and Our Beloved Summer were so similar, it gave netizens a pause. One mentioned that they were so confused, they had to “look into it to check if it was a remake,” only to find out that “it was not.”

Both posters had many similarities at first glance, such as being shot in the same setting—an outdoor street filled with foliage above a white wall—and color grading.

The actors’ clothing also followed a similar color palette: Fang Xiaodong wore a white top just like Choi Woo Shik while Lu Xiaoyu donned a white and yellow dress like Kim Da Mi’s white shirt and yellow jacket. The subjects were framed by the camera in an identical angle as well, increasing the similarities between the two.

Netizens were bemused by the obvious plagiarism, saying that the C-Drama took too much inspiration from Our Beloved Summer. They believed that it still looked “tacky” in the end.
