Professional K-Pop Nail Artists Reveal Which Are The Best Nail Shapes For K-Pop Idols

There are important differences.

Most fans would note the makeup, clothes, or hair of a K-Pop idol when thinking about the ways they make themselves look performance-ready. While all of these are important, there is another aspect that’s underrated—nails!

Famous nail artists Jeon Seo Yeong and Son Ki Hwan were invited to speak about their profession on AYO‘s “Comment Defenders” series. Here, they revealed many interesting K-Pop related facts that all focus on the importance of nails.

One of the things they expounded on was the best nail shape for singers. For those who are unaware, there are four basic shapes that stylists form on their clients.

Among these four, there is no clear winner. It depends on the preferences of both the owners of the nails as well as the stylists themselves which will determine what the former will wear.

Even the nail artists themselves had differing opinions, with Jeon Seo Yeong preferring square or ballerina shapes while Son Ki Hwan liked round best. The latter explained that “Round is a bit more feminine” and thus perfect for female idols.

At the same time, it’s not uncommon to see male idols like BTS‘s Jin don round-tipped nails for a clean look.

Jeon Seo Yeong, on the other hand, praised the pretty appearance that square and ballerina shaped nails give. To her credit, the other professional nail artist agreed that it has its obvious merits.

Ballerina shape is sharp but flat on the edge. If you want to look fierce, try square, stiletto, or ballerina shapes.

Their words were accurate! If you look closely at singers who do “girl crush” or powerful concepts, their nails are always fixed and fierce.
