But while every moment of (G)I-DLE’s performance was dynamic and captivating, fans were absolutely stunned when Soyeon’s rap included a very direct diss toward the MAMA Awards.
It’s rare for idols to diss the award shows they attend, although it has happened several times before. At the 2019 MAMA Awards, many artists were accused of sajaegi (chart manipulation). During BTS‘s acceptance speech, Jin decided to call out those artists for their methods.
I really want us to live in a world where all of those songs are heard and get the recognition they deserve. I know there are some negative ways to do this, but music should be done in an honest way. I look forward to living in a world where music is produced in good faith and heard in good faith.

BIGBANG‘s G-Dragon also went viral for his performance at the 2014 MAMA Awards, where in his collaboration with Taeyang, the idol dissed the way the show distributes their awards.
