BLACKPINK’s Jennie Shares For The First Time That Her Dog Kai Passed Away — It’s Still Difficult For Her To Talk About It

Our deepest condolences to Jennie and her mother.

BLACKPINK‘s Jennie appeared on Kang Hyung Wook’s Dog Guest Show with her adorable Pomeranian, Kuma.

Kang Hyung Wook is an animal trainer and TV personality known for his charismatic way of training pets—especially dogs. On his guest show, he interviews celebrities and gets to know their furry friends. Celebrities that have been guests include Crush, Girls’ Generation‘s Yuri, Wonder Girl‘s SoheeSEVENTEEN‘s S.Coups, and more.

Jennie claimed that she is a fan of Kang Hyung Wook and his show and made time during her busy world tour schedule to be a guest on the show. During the interview, she was given time to brag about Kuma, who supposedly doesn’t like anybody that’s not Jennie but seemed to like Kang Hyung Wook that day—which shocked Jennie.

She also showed off some of Kuma’s adorable tricks, revealing that Kuma is bilingual in English and Korean.

Kang Hyung Wook also asked her if she had anything she was curious about while raising a dog. Jennie then shared something she had never shared in public before.

Recently, I sent my first baby to heaven and my second baby, Kuma, seemed to have a hard time. I wondered if there’s anything I can do to console him. I actually never shared this anywhere else before. If I was going to share it, I wanted to share it with you.

Jennie’s first dog was a cocker spaniel named Kai. BLINKs will definitely recognize Kai and his adorable eyes as he was in many of Jennie’s pictures.

Jennie expressed her concern about how Kai’s passing affected Kuma because she and her family saw signs of depression in Kuma. Kang Hyung Woong shared that the younger dog does tend to depend on the older dog, like a baby depending on its mother.

It’s evident to see from Jennie’s social media that Kuma and Kai were very close and did everything together.

Although dogs grieve the passing of their buddies, it’s also a tough time for the owners. Kang Hyung Wook asked Jennie, “Is your mother okay?

Jennie said that her mother was not okay and revealed that she and her mom didn’t contact each other for a while after Kai’s passing.

She’s not okay. Actually, my mom and I didn’t talk to each other and cut for a while… because we get very emotional. If my mom and I [have eye contact], (pretends to cry)”

Jennie shared that it took her a while to be able to talk about Kai. Even now, she struggles to talk about it with her mother, who loved and helped raise Kai.

Even now, we’re very careful about it. We raised Kai like my little brother, and he was big so when he sat, he seemed like a human.

She seemed to hold back tears thinking about Kai and said she was still going through the healing process.

Kang Hyung Wook then shared his experience of losing his dog and revealed what the healing process was like for him.

Honestly, when we say bye to our dogs, it’s sad but difficult to commemorate your dog with an event. But you need to let it out once. After letting it out once, you get a bit of closure.

It’s never easy getting over the passing of a beloved family member, and we wish for Jennie and her mother to heal soon. Kai will always be in our hearts.

R.I.P Kai.
