Samsung Subtly Throws Shade At Apple In New Commercial With Son Heung Min — Fans Are Quick To Catch It
Samsung recently released a commercial featuring international football star Son Heung Min for the Galaxy Watch6 smartwatch.
In the 4-minute and 30-second commercial, Son Heung Min stars as himself and plays in a football match. In a breaking-the-third-wall moment, Son Heung Min realizes he’s part of a television program on an OTT platform.
Strange things start happening during the match, and it becomes known that Son Heung Min is in his REM cycle while sleeping—and that this is all a dream. He takes a look at his Samsung watch that shows him his sleep stages on the screen.
The commentators emphasize the importance of getting sleep, especially with a Galaxy Watch6 on.
In the last 30 seconds of the commercial, Son Heung Min wakes up in his bed and checks that he had “excellent” sleep, which is shown on his watch.
Then, he is seen starting his day and biting into an apple before throwing it into the blender.
The commercial ends with him saying, “Your day starts at night with Galaxy Watch6.”
Although this commercial was all about the Galaxy6 being able to track sleep habits, the brief moment toward the end left the strongest impression on netizens. Clips of Son Heung Min throwing the apple into the blender circulated online communities, as netizens claimed that this was Samsung throwing shade at Apple, their rival.
