The New Neflix Series That’s Being Dragged Into Its Cast Members’ Dating Scandal
A promising new series received praise and high viewership ratings following its April 13 premiere. Now, however, it’s making headlines for an entirely different reason.

Caster (also known as News Anchor) is a TBS J-Drama on Netflix about a fictional news show, News Gate, that investigates–and exposes–injustices in society. Abe Hiroshi stars as the protagonist, a seasoned reporter and anchor, who begins teaming up with Director Sakikubo Hana (played by Nagano Mei) and Assistant Director Motohashi Yusuke (played by Michieda Shunsuke). The show also features Korean actor Kim Moo Jun, who plays an assistant.

On April 23, news outlets reported that actress Nagano had been caught two-timing with Kim and Japanese actor Tanaka Kei, Nagano’s former co-star, who is married with two children. Nagano and Kim have both denied the rumors via their agencies, and no changes will reportedly be made to Caster‘s cast or broadcasting schedule.

Caster premiered with an impressive viewership rating of 14.2%, and some critics have credited Kim’s global popularity, in part, for the show’s instant success. Caster comes on the heels of Kim’s previous hit series, Black Pean 2 and Sorry Not Sorry.

Caster‘s first two episodes aired before the dating controversy made headlines. Although it’s off to a strong start, the scandal could potentially affect the viewership ratings and popularity (for better or for worse) moving forward.
