Another Popular SM Idol Reveals They Were Cast Through DM

In a recent interview with Girls’ Generation’s Hyoyeon, member Ian revealed how SM Entertainment cast her.

Ian revealed that she received a DM from SM asking if she had any thoughts about becoming a celebrity.
I liked to post selfies or short-form content on social media, and they sent me a DM after seeing that, asking if I wanted to be a celebrity.

Hyoyeon felt that the message seemed too much like a scam.

Ian showed her mother the text, but her mom, who was also a fan of SM, felt that something was different, and asked her to ask them the location.
When she asked about the location, they responded that it was a company in Seongdong-gu. She was then sent for a camera test and debuted as Hearts2Hearts.
SM is also known for sending DM’s to cast new idols.
