The Korea Press Ethics Commission has issued a message of caution regarding the suspicions surrounding actor Kim Soo Hyun and the late Kim Sae Ron.

The Korea Press Ethics Commission held its 997th meeting and issued a warning to 25 media outlets for violating Article 10, Principles of Titles, and Article 11, Respect for Honor and Credit.
The problem began after news articles began using the title of a petition filed in April to raise the age of statutory rape of minors, which was named the “Kim Soo Hyun Prevention Act”.

Media outlets that reported the petitioner’s claim that “Kim Soo Hyun’s grooming sexual crime against Kim Sae Ron, who was a minor, was revealed and angered the public” as a fact were subject to a warning.
The commission pointed out that “citing the petitioner’s one-sided claims as they are or using the bill title with Kim Soo Hyun’s real name as the title of the article, raises concern that it may stigmatize the individual as a criminal when facts have not been confirmed.”
During the previous meeting, 14 online articles with provocative titles relaying the YouTube channel’s revelations after Kim Sae Ron’s death were warned for violating the provisions.
It can cause serious emotional damage to not only the person involved but also to their family, acquaintances, and fandom.
