KPop Demon Hunters follows a trio of female idols who sing by day and slay demons by night. When a new threat arises (demons disguised as a rival boy group, the Saja Boys), HUNTR/X‘s Rumi is forced to confront her own personal demons. She finds kinship with Jinu, a 400-year-old demon, who is haunted by his past.

After befriending and betraying Rumi, Jinu ultimately sacrifices himself to save her and the rest of the human world. Understandably, viewers who had hoped for a happy ending for Jinu and Rumi were devastated. Rumi and Jinu didn’t even get to share a kiss!

During his recent livestream, BTS‘s Jungkook sang along to Saja Boys’ hit song “Soda Pop,” and he reacted to Jinu’s sacrifice.

“You idiot,” Jungkook said, becoming emotional as Jinu put himself between Rumi and the villain, Gwi-ma. “Why did he block that? What the heck? Just fight with her.” He wanted Jinu to work even harder and live on, since Rumi had given Jinu his soul back.

Jungkook told fans that the scene had moved him to tears.
