Singer Taeyeon Withdraws From Lineup After Organizer Mishap
The Jangsu Hanwoo and Apple Festival has garnered attention after fans were confused about a particular artist set to appear at the event.
According to Xportsnews, Kim Taeyeon was confirmed to appear at the festival on September 19, but eventually fell through.
Previously, a poster revealing Girls’ Generation’s Taeyeon in the festival lineup drew attention on online community sites because the idol had not performed at a local festival in a long time.
A netizen even reportedly posted saying that Girls’ Generation’s Taeyeon would be performing after contacting the festival organizers.
However, news of her appearance turned out to be untrue. SM Entertainment stated, “We have never been invited. We hope that fans will not be confused.”
It turns out that the singer confirmed for the lineup was not idol Taeyeon, but trot singer Kim Taeyeon (born in 2012). However, the two agencies and the festival organizers gave different statements as the county official stated, “Kim Taeyeon’s appearance is not true,” and that “we were not confused with Girls’ Generation Taeyeon and Kim Taeyeon that we mistakenly listed it on the poster.”
According to media outlets, Kim Taeyeon had already confirmed her schedule early after receiving an offer from the agency in charge of casting artists. They had known that she would be attending, but due to a series of events, they ultimately decided not to attend.
The county office posted a statement on social media due to miscommunication between the county official and the agency.
While recruiting signers for the festival, the recruitment of Girls’ Generation’s Taeyon was unsuccessful. However, the list of candidates for the performers and the poster draft were leaked externally. We express our regret for disappointing local residents and Taeyeon fans.
