170+ Children, 51 Mistresses — The Truth Behind Famous Monk’s Alleged Billion Dollar Criminal Investigation
Regardless of faith, religious leaders often set high standards even for those not participating in that specific religion. As a result, any behavior outside these expectations is considered shocking and attracts netizens’ attention.
Currently, a religious leader of high distinction is facing a criminal investigation connected to his alleged wrongdoings, including stealing and relationships with women.
Fans of the action genre, specifically martial arts films featuring Kung Fu, have likely heard the word Shaolin. Shaolin Kung Fu is the most famous style of Kung Fu, having been referenced in various media and popular culture throughout the years. It was developed by the Shaolin Temple in China.

The temple recently confirmed that its abbot, or head, Shi Yong Xin, was under criminal investigation for various offenses.
Just days before, a viral post resembling a police notice claimed that Shi had been apprehended attempting to board a flight to the United States and was accompanied by seven mistresses, 21 children, and six staff from the temple.

In addition to this, the post alleged that Shi had 51 mistresses and a whopping 174 illegitimate children and had embezzled around 4.3 billion USD from various temples.
Police initially shared that the post was fake. Still, the Shaolin Temple’s notice stated that Shi was being investigated for embezzling funds from temples, engaging in improper relationships with multiple women, and raising illegitimate children.
Shi was previously accused of similar misbehavior in 2015, when a whistleblower accused him of having multiple identities and provided an alleged birth certificate of one of his children.

Shaolin monks have taken vows of celibacy, meaning if any of these claims are found to be true, Shi broke both legal and spiritual laws. The Shaolin Temple has stated it will continue to provide updates on the investigation.
